Becoming a Product Tester.

Becoming a product tester.

Becoming a product tester isn't as easy as you may think. There are so many websites which claim to be able offer product testing but more often than not nothing ever comes of it.

I have been lucky enough to test a few products over the years ranging from kitchen appliances to food items.

I have often had to scour the internet to find these items and have never just had products sent to me. I have always applied through the websites and sometimes I have been lucky enough to get chosen. I first reviewed items like nappies and baby stuff from sites like Netmums and Mumsnet, I then went on to review a combination microwave oven from Netmums and that is when I realised that there are larger value items to be reviewed other than nappies and wipes.

I have over the years reviewed -

  • A Nokia Windows phone
  • A child's mobile phone
  • Combination Microwave oven
  • Dishwasher
  • Fridgefreezer
  • Washing machine x2
  • Hair Straighteners
  • Alcohol
  • Food
  • Juices
  • Childrens clothing
  • A juicer

and possibly many more items that are not popping into my mind right now.

When I heard that AO.com were looking for product reviewers I applied straight away and was absolutely thrilled to be chosen to review a Bosch Dishwasher. To apply you can either upload a video to their Facebook page AO Facebook or you can email them customerreviews@ao.com

You have to upload a video of an appliance you already own to Youtube, my first video can be seen here - Youtube first review. This shows that you are capable and able to do video reviews which is what they want. If you are lucky enough to get chosen to review from them they will send along a list of products that they currently need reviews for and you get choose a product from the list, if successful and the product is sent you have 7 days to review the product, where you will have to do a written review as well as the video review. The video must be recorded in landscape mode and then when you are happy upload it on to Youtube and add the link into the relevant places on the review form. You can reapply every 6 - 12 months for a new item to review but it can sometimes take longer as they have a huge amount of people wanting to review products for them.

I have now reviewed three products from AO and all have been great appliances.

I would recommend AO to anyone looking to purchase appliances as delivery of items is so quick and easy, I am not just saying that as a reviewer but as a customer also. They are quick to deal with any problems too and I think they are the best appliance retailer now.

Another product I really enjoyed testing was a Panasonic Juicer from Comeround, they send you the product to test on the promise that you host a party and spread the word about the product. When I had the juicer we ended up having a BBQ and a few friends came round so we got the juicer out and made nice fruity cocktails (non-alcoholic for the children) and it was a great day.

There are companies out there who want their products reviewed you just have to look for them!
